ROGUE RIVER, OREGON

  • rogue river

The City of Rogue River, just off Interstate 5, is nestled along the banks of the famous Rogue River in southwestern Oregon. Perched at an elevation just 1,000 feet above sea level, the city is in the heart of a region where three mountain ranges meet. These three ranges - the Cascades, the Siskiyous, and the Coast Range - meet in the Rogue Valley to create an enviable climate. Warm, dry summers with cool evenings, and moderate winters provide an opportunity to enjoy country living at its best.

The city is within two hours drive of mountain skiing, and just two hours away from the spectacular ocean beaches of Southern Oregon. Lakes and streams with fine fishing are barely an hour away. But many residents and visitors prefer to fish closer by, in the stream from which the city took its name. The Rogue River's native trout, salmon and steelhead are justifiably famous among anglers.
The city of Rogue River counts some 2,000 inhabitants. The surrounding countryside includes a service area of another 14,000 people. Grants Pass is only 8 miles west on Interstate 5 and Medford is 18 miles east. Come and discover the charm of small town Oregon living at its best.

Recreation - Besides the obvious ways to play on the river - fishing, boating, sailing, skiing, and just relaxing - the area around Rogue River is full of things to see and do:

Palmerton Arboretum features fine collection of specimen trees and access to Evans Creek.

City's other parks - Coyote Evans, Fleming, and Anna Classick - have facilities for horseshoes, tennis, and boat ramps. Valley of the Rogue State Park (three miles away on Interstate 5) offers complete camping and RV facilities on the river.

The Woodville Museum features a notable collection of pioneer artifacts. The old town jail has been rebuilt on the lawn behind the Museum.

National Rooster Crowing Contest has been held in Rogue River since 1953. Come around the last Saturday in June for an old-time small town parade and jamboree!
